I came across Trek Nation quite accidentally as I was reading about Gene Roddenberry today. It was shot by Rod Roddenberry between 2001 and 2010, he said that "I'd never done a documentary before. I found his sharing of an interview with his Father Gene (years ago), where Gene expressed that down the road he would love to see another younger director take on the series and do something different - maybe touch upon how these characters (from the original series) came together ---- Rod interviews J.J. Abrams only after he directed the Star Trek 2009 movie and shared this recorded interview with him.
