)The Revell kit is IMHO unbuildable. These two black colors were mixed using black and white paints. You didn't mention any scale for the Yamato as she comes in 700, 450, 350, 250, and 200.

When I saw the error I made with the catapult I decided the only thing I cold do would be to trim it to fit. MUCH has changed!

Too much variation will result in a deck that looks striped and not like wood planking. The foredeck and quarterdeck Swastika background bands were masked off and painted medium gray (some folks say they were red) and Swastikas in white circles were used from my aircraft decal spares file. Then I’ll take it out on a sunny day and see more things that need touching up. Can i just add that when the Revell Bismark kit came out it was priced at £49.99 in the U.k and when i worked in a model shop and couldn't sell them, not even when we knocked them down to £45.00,  and Revell have just brought out the sister ship the Tirpitz same scale but at £70.00 and for a few more flak weapons, like to see how many they sell at that price!

Tamiya’s kit’s funnel goes straight into the deck. We do not sell, rent or trade our email lists. parts they tested my patients and building ability but I won in the end and they look 100% better than the kit’s offerings. With the major sub assemblies finished it’s time to put it all together. I've used nary a lick of putty on this thing.

A shot taken in the bow, below the waterline had caused some flooding and the loss of precious fuel oil.The crew of the Bismarck, young … I am in shape. Following the kits instructions the propellers and rudder are attached and the deck pieces are installed. The fore and aft AA gun splinter shielding and main gun bore cleaning tube lockers must be removed and set aside for re-attachment later. Not to add fuel to the fire but I think it's safe to say that most modelers like the detail and engineering behind the more expensive Japanese kits that don't really need the benefit of after-market extras (Think AM B-25, Avenger and Dauntless), but when a competition style build is needed, the time and effort put into making the kit it nullifies whose name is stamped on the box. This is the last episode of my Revell Bismarck WIP. Nor was Revell, for that matter, but super detail is more a recent thing. My favorite aircraft models were almost always Hasegawa as they always seemed the best made and had the best fit and detail.Tamiya, on the other hand, made great 1/35 armor kits. Thanks for all the input folks, greatly appreciated.Okay, I'm going to "hijak" my own thread here....Who makes a better IJN Yamato?

40.00 kit, (Tamiya), decals around 8-12.00 USD, Eduards zoom set 5-10 usd, paint, glue, supplies, tape, masking set and the most valuable asset, your time. Generally, Tamiya kits are understood to be what you'd call "industry standard".....they spend an enormous amount of time and expense engineering the parts and cutting the dies - and the overall shape, fit, and detail is considered to be, on average, about as good as it gets. So far, Free Time Hobbies has done the best for me, but doubtless everyone has their favorites and it would not surprise me to find that different outfits are able to get better deals on certain kinds of models.... With the price of petroleum so high last year and the economy so screwed up this year, it does not surprise me that many kits have inflated or wildly different prices, and of course, even if the price of petroleum is low NOW, they will have already invested via the expensive stuff and will want to see that money come back.... Is the increase in price worth it for the Tamiya? Inspirational!Eduard and TMM and WEM (I think?)

Is there a specific kit you are asking about (scale, airplane, etc,)?Well the last time i made a model plane was about 15 to 20 years ago.

It is pricey but don't forget you get all the brass barrels with it too.The Tamiya kit coupled with the Lion Roar set can't be beat. Regarding the Revell offering....is there more than one year of issue? The superstructures are added deck by deck. Tamiya Models German WWII Battleship Bismarck. There you have it a quick rundown of the Revell and Tamiya Mosquito, price should never be an issue if you can afford it. I invested in a lot of photo etch for this one and it will need a lot of work if you want to make it a show piece. It was the pride of my collection for many years.Manufacturers came out with a lot of new 1/350 scale ships but has kept away from a new Missouri kit while AMs like Lionroar has a fantastic detail set for it.

Cute and cuddly, boys, cute and cuddly! 18 $39.99 $39.99. It was like the manufacturers were testing the waters for 1/32 kits and didn't put a lot of effort into the toolings.
